William “Bill” McKeon, age 73, of Northville, peacefully passed away December 17th at U of M Hospital after complications from cancer. He was born October 25, 1940 in Howell, son of Ed and Betty McKeon, a graduate of Howell High School and attended University of Detroit. Bill was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the Army as an MP Platoon Leader. Bill was a “racer” at heart and turned this passion into a highly respected career as an Indy car engine builder and chief mechanic. In his extensive career he worked for Diamond Racing, McLaren Engines, Hurst and General Kinetics. Bill built engines for Indy car race teams including Johnny Rutherford and Tom Sneva. He retired from Price Engineering after being the lead development engine builder pioneering the Ford V12 experimental program on behalf of Ford Motor Company. In recent years Bill’s family expanded to include the Huron Valley Corvette Club and his Z-06 Corvette. Bill is survived by his sister Jeri McKeon-Andersen (David) of Howell; Brother Dick (Nancy Martin) of Grand Ledge; niece Kelley McKeon; long time dear friend and companion Dianne Arman; and the John and Jenny Conely family of Brighton.
