Melvin E. Bumstead, age 82 of Howell and formerly of Sault Ste. Marie, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 6, 2012. Born June 7, 1929 in Sault Ste. Marie, he was the son of Ernest E. and Eulalie M. (Grier) Bumstead. Melvin was a Korean War Army veteran and retired purchasing agent for American Steel Corp. in Detroit. Loving father of James (Sandra) Bumstead of New Jersey, Carol Stone of Howell, Brenda (Larry) Craig of Alabama and Beth (Maxwell) Church of Detroit. Also survived by grandchildren, Christopher & Matthew Bumstead and Andrew & Kyle Stone and his sister, Barbara (Al) Mozham of Dearborn. In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Michigan Cancer Society.
